Some New “Super Food” Claims. Should You Get Into the Hype?

There are literally hundreds of companies selling thousands of products that all make amazing claims as to what they can do to improve your health. Many of these products are so-called “Super Foods” and claim to be able to do everything from help you lose weight to curing various forms of cancer. The reality is a little less than optimum as the vast majority of these products never even come close to living up to the hype. This can leave the consumer feeling that none of the supplements on the market really work or in a worst case scenario, that they must have been doing something wrong. In either case they end up giving up instead of finding supplements that actually work.

One of the biggest problems with many of the supplements on the market is that they are made from synthetic ingredients that your body is not designed to absorb.  While it may absorb a small percentage of these vital nutrients, it is never enough to actually do any good. To top it off, the majority of these supplements contain fillers that are of no use to the body whatsoever.

The Reality?

If you are going to take any kind of vitamin or mineral supplement for your health, you should be taking supplements that contain ingredients that are found in nature. Ingredients that contain the vitamins and minerals you would be getting from the foods you eat. This way your body will actually be able to absorb them in the way it was designed to, and you will be getting the extra nutrition you need instead of wasting your time and money.  You will find that taking whole food supplements is going to be the closest you can get to eating the right foods, as they contain only the nutrients your body needs, and none of the toxic substances that many of the “other” supplements contain.

The Total-Nutrition Program is the most complete encapsulated 100% natural whole food multi-vitamin multi-mineral program with enzymes, pre-biotics and probiotics. There is no other vitamin like it.

Is Your Body Getting the Right Vitamins and Minerals?

In our modern high stress society we spend a large percentage of our lives under large amounts of stress, being constantly on the go and eating what can only be described as a very poor diet. The simple fact is that the vast majority of us are not getting the vitamins and minerals that we need. Even if you think you are eating what would by most standards be considered a “healthy” diet, chances are pretty good that your body is still not getting all of the nutrients it needs in order to really be healthy.

One of the biggest reasons for this is that very few of the foods you buy in stores today- even fresh fruits and veggies- no longer have enough of the vital nutrients that your body is craving. Then add in the fact that all of the stress we live under constantly drains your body of what little nutrition it is getting, and you have a recipe for disaster. From a general lack of energy to serious immune system and health problems, this lack of nutrition can leave you in very poor health.

Total-Nutrition Program™ is the most complete encapsulated 100% natural whole food multi-vitamin multi-mineral program.

Progesterone and the Prostate

The alarming increase in prostate problems is now believed by some researchers to be due to the excessive quantities of environmental estrogens, particularly xeno-estrogens which cause men’s progesterone levels to drop especially as they age. Natural progesterone therapy can help to protect against prostate problems.  It is safe with no toxic side effects. Pro-Male™ Hormone Cream  supports healthy testosterone levels.

Dr. Lee has stated that nearly all men should seriously consider natural progesterone replacement sometime in their 40s, or even earlier if they have a family history of prostate problems.

ANOTHER NOTE: It has been theorized that the use of natural progesterone has a reasonable likelihood of decreasing male balding. If this benefit is of interest to you visit NWC Naturals.com.

Do Xenoestrogens (from the environment) Affect men?

Men also make estrogen and edtradiol, but in much lower amounts than women. The male hormone, testosterone, is antagonist to estradiol. Testosterone prevents estradiol from causing prostate cancer by destroying the prostate cancer cells it stimulates.

However, estrogen dominance caused by xenoestrogens is affecting men by raising their estrogen levels to dangerous levels which may negatively affect prostate health.

Characteristics of Estrogen Dominance:

Weight Gain, Insomnia, Fatigue, Memory Loss, Irritability, Acne, Depression, Panic Attacks, Osteoporosis, Cold Hands and Feet, Breast Tenderness, Hair Loss, Thyroid Imbalance, Fluid Retention (bloating) just to name some.

What is Xenoestrogens?

Xenoestrogens are a type of Xenohormones that imitates estrogen. They are widely used industrial compounds such as PCB, BPA, and Phthalates, that have estrogenic effects on a living organism even though they differ chemically from the naturally occurring estrogenic substances internally produced by the endocrine system of the organism. The word xenoestrogens is derived from the Greek words xeno, meaning foreign, estrus (meaning sexual desire) and gene (meaning “to generate”) and literally means “foreign estrogen”. Xenoestrogens are also called “environmental hormones” or “EDC” (Endocrine Disrupting Compounds). Most scientists that study xenoestrogens, including The Endocrine Society, regard them as serious environmental hazards that have hormone disruptive effects on both wildlife and humans.

Xenoestrogens are found in:   Paints, Plastics, Textiles, Pesticides, Paper Products, and Plastic Wraps.

This can cause Estrogen Dominance. You need to balance out your hormones.  Read more about  natural hormone creams Pro-Female™ Hormone Cream or Pro-Male™ Hormone Cream at  NaturalWellness.com or NWCnaturals.com.

What is Estrogen Dominance?

According to Dr. John Lee, the main causes of Estrogen Dominance are nutritional imbalances, effects of stress on the body, use of birth control pills, environmental toxins & synthetic chemicals, such as pesticides and plastics.

The hormones of a women’s menstrual cycle begin to shift out of balance during the peri-menopausal years and become more erratic the following years. For men this occurs as they get older and have low testosterone levels and get Estrogen Dominance.

These environmental toxins and chemicals affect the hormone balance of all living creatures including humans. They are called Xenohormones. Most of them have an estrogenic affect, which can cause hormonal imbalance. An excess or deficiency of estrogen has a strong effect on a woman or man’s body. Too much causes bloating, mood swings and insomnia. Too little causes lethargy, fatigue, depression and low libido.  Learn more in our research library.

What is Melatonin?

Can’t Sleep?

Melatonin is a hormone made by the pineal gland, a small gland in the brain. Melatonin helps control your sleep and wake cycles. Very small amounts of it are found in foods such as meats, grains, fruits, and vegetables. The production of Melatonin decreases as we get older. A decrease in Melatonin levels can lead to a compromised immune system and an increase in cell disorders, heart dysfunction, and high blood pressure.

What does natural melatonin do in the body?

Your body has its own internal clock that controls your natural cycle of sleeping and waking hours. In part, your body clock controls how much melatonin your body makes. Normally, melatonin levels begin to rise in the mid- to late evening, remain high for most of the night, and then drop in the early morning hours. Light affects how much melatonin your body produces. During the shorter days of the winter months, your body may produce melatonin either earlier or later in the day than usual.

Support strong bones and more with Ultra Cal-1000™

How to get more calcium in your diets.

Taking a good calcium supplement  like Ultra Cal-1000™ is a good thing. But you should not relay on it for your 100% calcium intake. You must eat foods also high in calcium.

Amaranth is a great grain to help supplement your diet with calcium and fiber.  Amaranth can be cooked as a cereal, ground into flour, popped like popcorn, sprouted, or toasted. The seeds can be cooked with other whole grains, added to stir-fry or to soups and stews as a nutrient dense thickening agent.

Amaranth flour is used in making pastas and baked goods. It must be mixed with other flours for baking yeast breads, as it contains no gluten. One part amaranth flour to 3-4 parts wheat or other grain flours may be used. In the preparation of flatbreads, pancakes and pastas, 100% amaranth flour can be used. Sprouting the seeds will increase the level of some of the nutrients and the sprouts can be used on sandwiches and in salads, or just to munch on.

Amaranth seed is high in protein (15-18%) and contains respectable amounts of lysine and methionine, two essential amino acids that are not frequently found in grains. It is high in fiber and contains calcium, iron, potassium, phosphorus, and vitamins A and C.
